Chair Guyer introduced new member Connie Trail.
Parks & Recreation Director Kristy Diaz-Trahan reported on projects relating to the following:
~ Steam Pump Ranch.
~ Naranja Park archery range.
~ Bond Advisory Committee.
Ms. Diaz-Trahan reviewed the following regarding the proposed fee schedule:
~ The Master Plan identifies a revenue component and a facility rental.
~ It is based on participant numbers.
~ There would be a staff person present during reservations.
~ If there is alcohol, there is a security standard to follow. This would require Town Manager and Police Chief approval.
~ Supplemental information will include the following:
- Facility Use application.
- Special Event permitting process (if applicable).
Chair Guyer requested that the group review the Master Plan and staff return with a complete proposal including an application process and guidelines at the next meeting. There is a preexisting document that may be used based on tours of the house.
Recreation Manager Lynanne Dellerman explained that she is working to obtain the Pusch family furnishings.
Ms. Dellerman stated that the donations from Catalina included a water tank but it is deteriorated. She asked about a 1900's dresser which could be donated to the Town. Pat Spoerl has donated a display case to the Historical Society. The commission agreed that the dresser would be a nice addition to the Pusch Ranch House.
Ms. Dellerman reported that this is complete.
Ms. Dellerman thanked Bill Adler for his contribution toward the event. She announced that there is a group planning for the Fall Festival and the commission is welcome to participate. The Fall event is October 26th. She added that the Town's 40th birthday will be incorporated with next Spring Settler's Day.
Ms. Dellerman stated that she is working to contact the architects that restored the Ranch House for pricing.
Ms. Dellerman reported that the Oro Valley Historical Society would also like to have the documents and photographs accessible on their website. She has a disk which includes all of the documents and photographs in jpeg format. She suggested having relatives of the families help identify the people in the photographs.
Item B was discussed prior to Item A.
Chair Guyer discussed forming a subcommittee to review information and brainstorm ways to share it. Commissioner Lane and Commissioner Trail volunteered to work on the Educational Outreach subcommittee and they will have a report for the Commission in September or October.
Ms. Diaz-Trahan suggested that Parks and Recreation work with a local school to prepare a 30-minute performance based on a historical story from Steam Pump Ranch. This performance could take place at the Spring Festival.
The Work Plan subcommittee will include Chair Guyer and Commissioner Hannon.
The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 3, 2013.
MOTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Hannon and seconded by Commissioner Lane to adjourn the meeting at 6:16 p.m.
