CALL TO ORDER

Chair Dankwerth called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Chair Dankwerth led the Board and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

CALL TO AUDIENCE - at this time, any member of the public is allowed to address the Board on any issue not listed on today’s agenda. Pursuant to the Arizona open meeting law, individual Board members may ask Town staff to review the matter, ask that the matter be placed on a future agenda, or respond to criticism made by speakers. However, the Board may not discuss or take legal action on matters raised during "Call to Audience." In order to speak during "Call to Audience", please specify what you wish to discuss when completing the blue speaker card.

There were no speaker requests.

Council Liaison Solomon did not have any comments.

REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF THE SEPTEMBER 26, 2017 REGULAR SESSION MEETING MINUTES


9-26-17 Minutes

MOTION: A motion was made by Vice Chair Roach and seconded by Member Schoeppach to approve the September 26, 2017 regular session meeting minutes as written.

MOTION carried, 5-0.

PUBLIC HEARING:  REQUEST FOR A VARIANCE TO INCREASE THE BUILDING HEIGHT OF A PROPOSED HOUSE FROM 20’ TO 26’, LOCATED AT 508 W. RED MOUNTAIN DRIVE (OV1702648)

Senior Planning Technician Patty Hayes provided a presentation that included the following:

- Purpose
- Location
- Site Plan
- Zoning and Building Height Requirement
- Five Criteria
- Summary

Key issues raised by the Board and addressed by staff:

- Would it make sense to change the rules to consider twenty feet from the fill line instead of the natural line?

The owner of the property, Mark Backman, stated this lot is where he would like to build his retirement home and it is well within standards of the homeowner association.

Michael Whyde of Pepper Viner Homes stated they have built three communities in Oro Valley and have worked with Town staff many times.

Chair Dankwerth opened the public hearing.

There were no speaker requests.

Chair Dankwerth closed the public hearing.

MOTION: A motion was made by Vice Chair Roach and seconded by Member Schoeppach to approve OV1702648 a variance to increase the building height from 20' to 26', based on the finding that the five criteria have ben met.

Chair Dankwerth asked what the directions are of the homes around this property and asked for further explanation of the wall that was spoken about.

MOTION carried, 5-0.

ADJOURNMENT

Chair Dankwerth adjourned the meeting at 3:16 p.m.
