COUNCIL REPORTS
|
|
Councilmember Greene reported that the Stormwater Utility Commission's rainfall report for 2021 indicated that it was one of the wettest years recorded in the last 30 years, with nearly 15 inches of rain recorded for Oro Valley. Councilmember Greene also reported that all showings of the Oro Valley Theater Company's presentation of Steel Magnolias were sold out and that the next upcoming show would be Same Time Next Year by Bernard Slade, held on February 20, 22, and 23, 2022.
Vice Mayor Barrett reported that as a result of a recent incident at an Oro Valley school, she was inclined to make the following statement: "racism, hatred and discrimination are not acceptable in our community, they are not welcome in our community and that we love and respect all members of our community". Vice Mayor Barrett also encouraged citizens to speak with their families about racism.
Councilmember Bohen reported that he had attended the grand opening of Brooklyn Bedding and shared what he learned about that business and the neighboring business during his visit. Councilmember Bohen also reported that he was impressed by the caliber of the resumes received for the Water Utility Commission vacancies.
Councilmember Jones-Ivey reported the following events were held to assist with fundraising and awareness for Project Graduation:
- Project Graduation fundraising event held at the Overlook restaurant on February 4
- The first annual Guns and Hoses Kickball Project Graduation fundraising event held March 4
- A Project Graduation booth at the Sahba Home Show held on April 7 through April 10
- 2022 Project Graduation Wonderland event held May 13 through May 21
- Project Graduation Amazon wish list
Mayor Winfield reported that he had attended a Pima Association of Government Regional Transportation Authority meeting where the members voted unanimously to keep "one vote one jurisdiction" in place. This helped to preserve the regional approach to transportation for all communities. |

|
Town Manager Mary Jacobs thanked the community for their patience while repairs were done to the water main break on La Cañada Drive and commended staff and the contractor for their assistance and quick response during this time. |
