CALL TO ORDER
  Chair Clark called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

CALL TO AUDIENCE
  Chair Clark opened Call to Audience.
No one wished to speak.

COUNCIL LIAISON COMMENTS
  Council member Joyce Jones-Ivey was not present.
             
PRESENTATIONS
             
   1. Senior Programming Task Force Presentation   
  Nancy Ellis, Assistant Recreation Manager provided the presentation and members asked clarifying questions.
             
SPECIAL SESSION AGENDA
             
   1. *INTRODUCTION OF CONSULTANTS, BOARD DISCUSSION AND PROJECT OVERVIEW OF THE VISTOSO TRAILS NATURE PRESERVE
 

Kristy Diaz-Trahan stated that we have contracted Sites with Southwest. She spoke regarding the community engagement that was done. Liz Cole from Sites with Southwest provided a presentation. Members asked questions and made comments. Charles Stack an Oro Valley resident filled out a blue card and spoke regarding the Vistoso Trails and pollination habitat. 

             
   2. DISCUSSION REGARDING OPPORTUNITIES TO GET INVOLVED IN THE NEXT TEN-YEAR GENERAL PLAN UPDATE
  Milini Simms the Principal planner for the Oro Valley Community and Economic Development Department provided a presentation Members asked questions. 
             
   3. PROGRESS UPDATE, PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION REGARDING THE ORO VALLEY $25 MILLION PARK BOND PROJECT APPROVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL, RESOLUTION NO. (R)21-47 ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2021
  Kristy Diaz-Trahan gave a presentation that included value engineering reductions. Member Landau made a comment regarding shade structure with regard to the reduction plan. Member Matt Wood commented on the fields that are no longer going to include and what they might look like in the future as far as erosion etc. Discussion ensued among members. Aldee Rose an Oro Valley resident shared her concern with regard to pickleball shade structure.  She also spoke regarding concerns about placement of the dog park at Naranja. She suggested new location for skate and pump park. 
             
   4. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE THE PROPOSED 2023 PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD MEETING SCHEDULE
  Dates were proposed and discussed.
             
  Motion by Member Matthew Wood, seconded by Member Cheryl Horvath to approve the 2023 Parks and Recreation Board meeting schedule as February 21, April 18, May 16, September 19, and November 14, 2023.

  Vote: 5 - 0 Carried

   5. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION TO CANCEL THE NOVEMBER 22, 2022, REGULAR MEETING
             
  Motion by Chair Anna Clark, seconded by Member Matthew Wood to cancel the November 22, 2022 regular meeting.

  Vote: 5 - 0 Carried

   6. RECOGNITION OF OUTGOING BOARD MEMBERS ANNA CLARK, JOSEPH COYLE, RONALD ODELL
  Kristy-Diaz Trahan thanked the outgoing members for their service on the board. Both Chair Clark and Board member Odell wants to continue to serve the town in some capacity.
             
DEPARTMENT REPORT
 
  • The Town of Oro Valley won the Arizona Parks and Recreation award for the best Adaptive Recreation program of the year I can too. As well as Tom Ellis our Park Superintendent received the Parks and Recreation employee of the year 
  • Jon Schumacher was promoted within to Recreation and Natural Resources Manager from Recreation Assistant Manager 
  • Steam Pump Ranch garage project 
  • We are conducting interviews for new board members this month

  Motion by Chair Anna Clark, seconded by Member Ronald Odell to adjourn the meeting at 7:36 p.m.
