COUNCIL LIAISON COMMENTS
|
|
Council Liaison Joyce Jones-Ivey noted that the new Town Manager, Jeff Wilkins, will start July 7th. Council is looking at the FY 23-24 budget with study sessions on the 10th and 11th with public hearings in June. As of May 5th the short-term rental ordinance is in effect. At the last council meeting a policy for schools was adopted. All schools must have an emergency plan in place to be reviewed by the Emergency Response Planner and the Police Department, to be reviewed annually. They are continuing to visit the local businesses with the staff and the president of the Chamber of Commerce. The businesses have been responding positively. She asked everyone to shop locally. She ended with a call for volunteers for Project Graduation. |

PRESENTATION, DISCUSSION, AND POSSIBLE ACTION TO RECOMMEND COUNCIL APPROVAL OF THE VISTOSO TRAILS NATURE PRESERVE MASTER PLAN

Chair Wood introduced the item and turned the meeting over to Ms. Diaz-Trahan. She recounted the history of the project and introduced George Radnovich, Principal, Sites Southwest, who provided the attached presentation. Once the presentation was completed, the Board asked a couple questions that were answered by Mr. Radnovich and Ms. Diaz-Trahan. Chair Wood allowed the blue cards at this time.
Walda Abbott, an Oro Valley Resident, was concerned about parking and security.
Charles Stack, and Oro Valley Resident, spoke in favor of the project and offered his services as a resource and wants collaboration with other local groups.
Rosa Dailey, on Oro Valley Resident, spoke as a representative of her street, does not want the driving range improved, especially the ADA portion. She was also concerned about invasive species.
Tom Stegman, an Oro Valley Resident, expressed his disappointment in the costs, he would like the property back to a desert condition and preserve, please consider the vegetation and wildlife.
Dick Surowiec, an Oro Valley Resident, favors having a pond big enough for water fowl. He does not favor ramadas, viewing platforms or blinds. He cautioned having parking by the pond area. He is disappointed in the timeline.
Doug Iverson, and Oro Valley Resident, had suggestions about the ponds, wants the pond to be a highlight. He spoke to costs and how to mitigate some of the costs through volunteers, grants, etc.
Larry Marrs, an Oro Valley Resident, he would support the pond being a center point of the property for wildlife. He suggested that trails should be segregated between walkers and bikers and alternate days.
The Board asked questions that were addressed by Mr. Radnovich and Ms. Diaz-Trahan.
