Discussion and possible action regarding Public Art requirements: Revisions to the Oro Valley Zoning Code
Staff wishes to initiate revisions to the public art provisions of the zoning code. This will be the first in a series of meetings to generate ideas to improve and add to existing provisions. If you have any questions about this matter, please contact Bayer Vella, OV Principal Planner, at (520) 229-4810 or bvella@orovalleyaz.gov. |
Mr. Bayer Vella, OV Principal Planner, explained the process and intent to revise Oro Valley Zoning Code regarding public art.
Member Suchland stated the process could improve by giving a very clear description of what public art is and for the PARC to have a mission statment.
Member Suchland provided an example of a Mission Statement that PARC could possibly use.
PARC members would like to define what constitutes an artist in the new codes and separate an artist from a craftman.
Member Grigsby state item #2 of Section 27.3 Public Art Provisions must be enhanced.
PARC members agree 1% is not too much to ask from a developer.
David Ronquillo, OV Senior Planner, presented a draft of bylaws to the PARC. This item will be put back on the agenda for June to allow the members to comment. Mr. Ronquillo stated it is the goal of staff to move quickly, and to establish a timeline.
Member Grigsby called for adjournment at 5:25 p.m.
