CALL TO ORDER AT OR AFTER 6:00 P.M.

Chairman Sakellar called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Chair Sakellar led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

CALL TO AUDIENCE - At this time, any member of the public is allowed to address the Board on any issue not listed on today?s agenda.  Pursuant to the Arizona Open Meeting Law, individual Board members may ask Town staff to review the matter, ask that the matter be placed on a future agenda, or respond to criticism made by speakers.  However, the Conceptual Design Review Board may not discuss or take legal action on matters raised during "Call to Audience."  In order to speak during "Call to Audience" please specify what you wish to discuss when completing the blue speaker card.

There were no speaker requests.

ELECTION OF VICE CHAIR


MOTION: A motion was made by Richard Eggerding, Member and seconded by Kit Donley, Member elect David Atler as Vice Chair of the Conceptual Design Review Board.

MOTION carried, 6-0.

SIGN CRITERIA FOR THE SUN CENTER, LOCATED ON THE WEST SIDE OF ORACLE ROAD AND 1700’ NORTH OF INA ROAD  (OV3-12-007)

MOTION: A motion was made by David Atler, Vice Chair and seconded by Gil Alexander, Member approved OV312-007, a Sign Criteria for the Sun Center, based on the following findings that the proposed Sign Criteria, as conditioned, is in conformance with the applicable Zoning Code and Design Standards and Principles Subject to the conditions in Attachment 1.

Sign criteria for the Ridge View Plaza


1. Approval of this Sign Criteria shall be subject to annexation of the subject property into the Town of Oro Valley.

2. Approval of the Sign Criteria shall be subject to the approval of the translational zoning for the subject property enabling the sign allowances identified in the Sign Criteria.

3. Existing permitted signs that do not comply with this Sign Criteria shall be permitted to remain including the entry monument and cabinet wall signs.   Sign panels and faces may be replaced on the existing entry monument and cabinet wall signs.  The entry monument sign may continue as a legal non-conforming sign as defined in the future translational zoning.

4. Only one color from the approved color palette can be used for sign letters and characters on any one line of sign copy.

5. Page 2 of the Sign Criteria shall be corrected to reflect the allowed wall sign allowance of 1 square foot of sign area for every 1 linear foot of frontage per Pima County’s TR main wall sign allowance.

DISCUSSION REGARDING THE REQUIREMENT FOR FOUR-SIDED ARCHITECTURE AS IT APPLIES TO HOMES ON CORNER LOTS

Discussion points out of the Design Standards - Four sided architecture should be important for all sides of the home - Corner lot treatments - change the Design Standards to include corner lots treatments - equality treat all sides of the home -

Chad Daines, Principal Planner started the discussion on four-sided architecture requirements which comes out of the Design Standards.

Discussion ensued among the Board.

Member Alexander suggested that the corner side yard walls should be treated like the front facade.
