Mr. Jim Williams, President of the Historical Society described the event at Z Mansion and an upcoming meeting March 27, 2018 at the Golder Ranch Fire Department on Magee Road. He also explained that at the last Historical Society meeting the members discussed the Town's budget and their concerns for funding items such as the sprinkler.
Water Utility Director, Peter Abrams, explained the purpose of the presentation and introduced Town Engineer Lee Jacobs. Mr. Jacobs provided a power point presentation that described placement of the well site, dates of construction, structure and size. Commissioners sought answers for clarification.
Commissioner Huff explained that he has been working with Joyce Reichner from a local school and has received approximately 40 essays for review. Discussion commenced as to where the top three essay winning essays could be displayed at various parts of Oro Valley. Commissioner Huff shared a letter from a 4th grade teacher that was written by a student who has challenges. That student was the only one to enter the contest.
Ms. Dellerman explained the need for the wording Historical Park in the Steam Pump Ranch name, referencing that funds can be procured from big agencies with the given name. She mentioned that Town Council has the discretion of adding the wording.
MOTION: A motion was made by Chair Thomae and seconded by Commissioner Huff to accept adding the words "Historic Park” to the name in Steam Pump Ranch
MOTION carried, 5-0
Ms. Dellerman provided information about the phases of the Master Plan. By providing a detailed list of ten key points, she demonstrated that SPR has followed the project guiding principles. Certain aspects of the phases were discussed among Commissioners. Ms. Dellerman's report allowed the Commissioners to see what parts of each phase have been completed.
Ms. Dellerman provided an update from Professor Gina Chorover regarding the class that was created for this project that starts next week. She noted that the next project will begin April 7-May 5 and is an analysis of residential structures. Ms. Dellerman also informed the Commissioners that there is a possibility that an intern may be able to assist with projects.
Ms. Dellerman reported that the Oro Valley Parks Supervisor provided figures to irrigate and complete the internal planting plan for SPR. She reminded the Commissioners that since it is a plan, the Commissioners will have some opportunity for future recommendations. She further explained that these funds were included in the Capital Improvement Project for this year.
Ms. Dellerman combined the Steam Pump Ranch update with the Directors report. The contractor, Durazzo, will have work completed in Pusch House by March 26, 2018. A contractor for painting and wood repair has been approved. Another chicken coop adobe workshop will be held March 24, 2018.
Ms. Dellerman reported that she received two applications for the vacancies on the Commission.
- inventory report of items found at SPR
- discuss how to increase public awareness of Steam Pump Ranch
MOTION: A motion was made by Chair Thomae and seconded by Vice Chair Ohlson to adjourn the meeting at 6:23 p.m.
