CALL TO AUDIENCE - At this time, any member of the public is allowed to address the Commission on any issue not listed on today's agenda. Pursuant to the Arizona Open Meeting Law, individual Commission Members may ask Town staff to review the matter, ask that the matter be placed on a future agenda, or respond to criticism made by speakers.  However, the Historic Preservation Commission may not discuss or take legal action matters raised during "Call to the Audience." In order to speak during "Call to Audience" please specify what you wish to discuss when completing the blue speaker card.

Educational opportunities for Historic Preservation Commission members to attend   


Lynanne Dellerman, Recreation and Cultural Resources Manager, informed the Commission about upcoming events including a presentation from Mr. Day, a long time native of AZ.  She also reminded the Commission of an upcoming event recapturing our Spanish past. Wednesday, Dec 5, featuring Gail Hartman. Second Saturday will also have a speaker presenting information about past presidents during the early years of Arizona's history. Ms. Dellerman also mentioned a couple of other local events.

REGULAR AGENDA

1.

UPDATE FROM THE ORO VALLEY HISTORICAL SOCIETY (DISCUSSION MUST BE LIMITED TO INFORMATION AND CLARIFICATION)


President of the Historical Society, Roxy Johnson, described upcoming events at the Ranch and library.  She explained that a home school group visited the gardens at the Ranch.  Ms. Johnson described the upcoming holiday sidewalk sale near the Ranch, items that do not sell will be donated to the Golden Goose that aides school children.  She also informed the Commission that Jim Williams presented a check from his book proceeds to the Historical Society. Upcoming future events include a walk through by Barbara Macintyre, a great granddaughter of the Pusch family.

APPROVE THE ANNUAL REPORT AS PRESENTED BY COMMISSIONER BOHEN (DISCUSSION MUST BE LIMITED TO INFORMATION AND CLARIFICATION)


The Chair moved approval to the January meeting.

3.

DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE STAFF PROPOSED REMEDIES FOR THE DETIORATION OF THE BARBEQUE AT BUILDING ONE, STEAM PUMP RANCH, AS PRESENTED BY LYNANNE DELLERMAN


Ms. Dellerman showed a power point of a map and pictures of Steam Pump Ranch. She explained the buildings and areas that have been improved with funding.  Current barbeque pictures were shown as well as barbeque photos of the past. Recommendations were presented by Lynanne Dellerman, that included having staff make repairs or seek professionals to rebuild.  Ms. Dellerman explained that one of the Town's engineers, Phil Trenerary, is reviewing prospects for conducting the repairs.  Once information is provided, Ms. Dellerman will place the request in the budget. Temporary coverage with tarps was discussed, keeping beautification in mind.

MOTION: A motion was made by Chair Thomae and seconded by Commissioner Munden to accept staff proposed remedies for the detioration of the barbeque at building one, Steam Pump Ranch, as presented by Lynanne Dellerman

4.

DISCUSS AND REVIEW THE REGISTRY APPLICATIONS COLLECTED FROM THREE NEIGHBORHOODS; SHADOW MOUNTAIN ESTATES, ORO VALLEY COUNTRY CLUB ESTATES, AND SUFFOLK HILLS, AS PRESENTED BY LYNANNE DELLERMAN (DISCUSSION MUST BE LIMITED TO INFORMATION AND CLARIFICATION)


Ms. Dellerman presented a power point depicting a few houses potentially eligible for the registry.  Commissioners asked questions and received clarification.

REQUEST FOR COMMISSION VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST WITH LOCAL REGISTRY PROJECT


Ms. Dellerman explained the purpose and function of the volunteers.  Individual Commissioners will meet with Ms. Dellerman and be assigned a house and application.

5.

DEPARTMENT REPORT (DISCUSSION MUST BE LIMITED TO INFORMATION AND CLARIFICATION)


Ms. Dellerman reported that she will be reviewing an intern from the Drachman Institute. She followed with upcoming items at the Ranch that include a wedding, birthday, and competitive runs.  She also detailed Town activities that are upcoming and revenue generating events.

6.

FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS - (The Historic Preservation Commission may bring forth general topics for future meeting agendas. Discussion must be limited to information and clarification). Next Historic Preservation Commission meeting tentatively scheduled for Monday, January 7, 2019 to begin at 5:00 p.m.
