CALL TO ORDER AT OR AFTER 5:00 P.M.

CALL TO THE AUDIENCE

Oro Valley resident Bill Adler

stated that the work plan requires funding and the Town budget does not include money for historic preservation or the restoration of the Steam Pump Ranch. He recommended that the commissioners contact the Town Council regarding the importance of historic preservation.

REVIEW AND/OR APPROVAL OF THE APRIL 1, 2013 REGULAR SESSION MINUTES

MOTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Trail and seconded by Commissioner Lane to approve the April 1, 2013 minutes as written.

INTRODUCE NEW BOARD MEMBER - DISCUSSION


Chair Guyer introduced new member Connie Trail.

DIRECTOR’S REPORT (DISCUSSION MUST BE LIMITED TO INFORMATION AND CLARIFICATION)


Parks & Recreation Director Kristy Diaz-Trahan reported on projects relating to the following:
~ Steam Pump Ranch.
~ Naranja Park archery range.
~ Bond Advisory Committee.

STEAM PUMP RANCH FEE SCHEDULE - DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION


Ms. Diaz-Trahan reviewed the following regarding the proposed fee schedule:
~ The Master Plan identifies a revenue component and a facility rental.
~ It is based on participant numbers.
~ There would be a staff person present during reservations.
~ If there is alcohol, there is a security standard to follow. This would require Town Manager and Police Chief approval.
~ Supplemental information will include the following:
    - Facility Use application.
    - Rules/restrictions.
    - Ordinances.
    - Special Event permitting process (if applicable).

Chair Guyer requested that the group review the Master Plan and staff return with a complete proposal including an application process and guidelines at the next meeting. There is a preexisting document that may be used based on tours of the house.

STEAM PUMP RANCH - DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION

DONATIONS

PUSCH RANCH HOUSE DISPLAY OPTIONS


Recreation Manager Lynanne Dellerman explained that she is working to obtain the Pusch family furnishings.

b.

DONATIONS FROM CATALINA


Ms. Dellerman stated that the donations from Catalina included a water tank but it is deteriorated. She asked about a 1900's dresser which could be donated to the Town. Pat Spoerl has donated a display case to the Historical Society. The commission agreed that the dresser would be a nice addition to the Pusch Ranch House.

ENTRY GATES ON ORACLE ROAD


Ms. Dellerman reported that this is complete.

C.

SPRING FESTIVAL AND FALL PLANNING


Ms. Dellerman thanked Bill Adler for his contribution toward the event. She announced that there is a group planning for the Fall Festival and the commission is welcome to participate. The Fall event is October 26th. She added that the Town's 40th birthday will be incorporated with next Spring Settler's Day.

D.

PUMP HOUSE COVER


Ms. Dellerman stated that she is working to contact the architects that restored the Ranch House for pricing.

E.

SCANNED DOCUMENTS & PHOTOGRAPHS


Ms. Dellerman reported that the Oro Valley Historical Society would also like to have the documents and photographs accessible on their website. She has a disk which includes all of the documents and photographs in jpeg format. She suggested having relatives of the families help identify the people in the photographs.

POSSIBLE SUMMER PROJECT SUBCOMMITTEE - DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION

EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH EFFORTS


Item B was discussed prior to Item A.

Chair Guyer discussed forming a subcommittee to review information and brainstorm ways to share it. Commissioner Lane and Commissioner Trail volunteered to work on the Educational Outreach subcommittee and they will have a report for the Commission in September or October.

Ms. Diaz-Trahan suggested that Parks and Recreation work with a local school to prepare a 30-minute performance based on a historical story from Steam Pump Ranch. This performance could take place at the Spring Festival.

A.

REVISE HISTORIC PRESERVATION WORK PLAN


The Work Plan subcommittee will include Chair Guyer and Commissioner Hannon.

7.

SCHEDULING NEXT HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION MEETING TENTATIVELY FOR MONDAY JUNE 3, 2013 TO BEGIN AT 5:00 P.M. - DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION


The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 3, 2013.

MOTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Hannon and seconded by Commissioner Lane to adjourn the meeting at 6:16 p.m.
