Stormwater Utility Manager Mike Todnem explained to the Commissioners that the changes to Chapter 17 of the Town Code were done to make it compliant with Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) and update for the Community Rating System (CRS) application.
Senior Stormwater Engineer, Justin Turner, told the Commissioners that this document represents the efforts between ADWR and Stormwater staff. He also explained that the benefits of the changes are to close out the 2012 community advisory visit and to have an ordinance for us to apply for the CRS so Oro Valley residents can buy flood insurance at a discount.
Mr. Turner explained that this would be submitted to Town Council and once it is adopted, sent to ADWR. He asked commissioners if they had any concerns that would make them not want to move forward with this.
Commissioner David Parker commented that since the changes are from ADWR model ordinance we are not able to change it.
Mr. Turner explained some of the definitions in the model ordinance as they apply to Oro Valley.
Commissioner Jim Mikolaitis asked the other members of the commission if there was anything critical to address before a vote on it at the next meeting.
There was a discussion of questions that the Commissioners had about various items on some of the pages of the document.
