MINUTES ORO VALLEY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT REGULAR SESSION January 23, 2024 ORO VALLEY COUNCIL CHAMBERS 11000 N. LA CAÑADA DRIVE

REGULAR SESSION AT OR AFTER 3:00 PM

CALL TO ORDER

Senior Planner Kyle Packer called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.

ROLL CALL

Present:	Joseph Affinati, Member
	Octavio Barcelo, Member
	Joseph Brandhuber, Member
	Thomas Gribb, Member
	Dan Sturmon, Member
Staff Present:	Kyle Packer, Senior Planner

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Senior Planner Kyle Packer led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

CALL TO AUDIENCE

There were no speaker requests.

COUNCIL LIAISON COMMENTS

The Town Council liaison was not present.

REGULAR SESSION AGENDA

ELECTION OF CHAIR FOR THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT


				Motion by Member Octavio Barcelo, seconded by Member Thomas Gribb to nominate Joseph Affinati to serve as Chair of the Board of Adjustment.

				Vote: 5 - 0 Carried

	2.			ELECTION OF VICE CHAIR FOR THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT


				Motion by Member Joseph Affinati, seconded by Member Thomas Gribb to nominate Octavio Barcelo to serve as Vice Chair for the Board of Adjustment.

				Vote: 5 - 0 Carried

	3.			DISCUSSION REGARDING THE ROLE, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CONDUCT OF THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
				Senior Planner Kyle Packer provided a presentation that included the following: - Purpose - Introductions - Roles: Town Council and liaisons - Board duties and responsibilities - Administrative decisions and interpretations - Variances - Finding #1 - Finding #2 - Finding #3 - Finding #4 - Finding #5 -Board Member do's and don'ts Discussion ensued among the Board and staff.

	4.			REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF THE NOVEMBER 28, 2023 REGULAR SESSION MEETING MINUTES


				Motion by Member Octavio Barcelo, seconded by Member Thomas Gribb to approve the meeting minutes as written.

				Vote: 5 - 0 Carried

ADJOURNMENT Chair Affinati adjourned the meeting at 3:27 p.m.
